As an academic medical center, VCU Health leads the way in evaluating and treating conditions of the pelvic floor. Each day, our team is researching innovative treatments to benefit women of all ages and stages of life, while providing compassionate, individual and life-changing care for each and every patient.

Your team includes board-certified experts in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (urogynecology), which specializes in treating women's conditions in the pelvic floor. Our urogynecologists, who have unique training in urology and gynecology, also draw in related specialists in gastroenterology, colorectal health and physical therapy.

Our physicians are sharing their research both across the country and around the globe through articles in leading medical journals and conferences, as we work to advance the science for all women suffering from pelvic floor disorders. For example, one of our doctors developed a unique training model for teaching surgery and taught a course on using this model at an international meeting for female pelvic surgeons. That leading-edge focus on research translates into repeated honors for resident education and training the next generation of practitioners. Because we focus on one patient at a time, our team also has been repeatedly recognized for clinical excellence and compassion.
