Hernia Program
Over 1 million hernia operations are performed per year in the United States. Hernias can be disabling and disfiguring for patients, and challenging for surgeons.
A hernia occurs when an organ bulges through the muscle. They often occur in the abdomen, and can be painful, disabling, and disfiguring. The goal of the hernia program at VCU Health is to provide comprehensive and collaborative care for hernia patients by surgeons who specialize in hernia surgery. The program is led by Drs. Levi Procter and Jennifer Salluzzo. Both have advanced training and offer minimally invasive approaches to hernia surgery and repair.
