What to Expect
All visits typically last between 45-90 minutes. Treatment for your condition may only be a couple of visits or may span over several months. For your first appointment, please arrive 15 minutes early to check in—bring your insurance information, photo ID, and payment method (for any co-pays).
We do not prescribe or administer medication during therapy appointments. Please take any medication prior to your appointment or bring in your medication to be taken during the session.
Will Insurance Cover My Visits?
We accept most major insurance plans, but you can call the member services number on the back of your insurance card to verify coverage. We are listed as “VCU Health System.” VCU Health also offers flexible self-pay and payment plan options.
Some insurance plans may require you to make a co-payment at the time of your visit. We accept credit cards, checks and cash. The amount of your co-pay is determined by your insurance carrier and should be listed on your insurance card.
We understand that your injury may have had a profound impact on your finances, and we are committed to finding a way to help you in a cost-effective manner.
What Should I Wear to My First Visit?
For occupational therapy and physical therapy visits, please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and athletic shoes. For women with shoulder or back problems, a tank-top or sports bra under your T-shirt is recommended; for hip, knee, and ankle issues, shorts are recommended. We have facilities to change your clothes if needed.
What Is Your Cancellation/No-Show Policy?
We request that you kindly give us 24-hour’s notice if you are unable to come for your appointment. This allows us to offer the appointment slot to another patient. If you do not arrive for your appointment, and no notice was given, this is considered a no-show (excluding illnesses, emergencies, and/or unforeseen circumstances). Patients with 2 no-shows will be discharged from therapy and will require a new order/prescription to resume therapy. If a patient no-shows 2 additional visits, they can no longer be seen for therapy services at any of our VCUHS clinics.
