Interventional Spinal Care
The department provides comprehensive outpatient interventional spine care at VCU Health and the Richmond VA Medical Center. We strive to maximize the quality of life of persons with pain through the use of interventional procedures and rehabilitation planning. Our programs emphasize the enhancement of quality of life by improving functional independence, increasing participation in social activities, preventing further injury and by education in health maintenance.
Interventional spine care represents the culmination of evidence-based and knowledge-based medicine to accurately diagnose and optimally treat spinal disorders and injury. The Interventional Spine Care program encompasses original spine research, efficient clinical dispensation of spine medicine and fellowship-level training.
Patients are evaluated at the VCU Spine Center or the Richmond VA Medical Center’s Interventional Pain Clinic where they are enrolled in a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm to rapidly improve their level of function and properly address their spine condition. The Spine Center and Interventional Pain Clinic faculty are experienced in spine and pain medicine and routinely present as faculty at local, national and international conferences and symposia.
