Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology at VCU Medical Center provides anesthesia services for inpatient and outpatient surgery, as well as for nonsurgical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and critical care services for patients in our intensive care units. Other services we offer include postoperative pain relief, through a variety of advanced methods, and obstetric analgesia, most often using an epidural procedure.

Preadmission evaluation and preparation of patients scheduled for elective surgery (or other procedures that will require anesthesia) are available on weekdays and may be scheduled through the Preoperative Assessment Communication and Education (PACE) Clinic.
