Exploring Women’s Heart Health

3rd Annual “Heart Health in Women Symposium”

Pauley hosted the third annual “Heart Health in Women Symposium” at the Virginia Historic Society on Saturday, Feb. 3. The event was co-chaired by cardiologists Drs. Phoebe Ashley, and Jordana Kron, and was targeted to medical professionals. Participants received Continuing Medical Education credits.

At the event, our faculty and community experts presented the latest findings for women with heart disease. Topics included diabetes, valvular heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, carotid artery disease, obstructive sleep apnea and a presentation of cases from the cardiovascular genetics clinic.

Last year’s symposium drew an audience of 70 physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses.

“Past participants have been very pleased with the highlight of women’s cardiovascular health and the nuances therein,” said Ashley. “We have had wonderful, very positive feedback about the conference, with some participants even suggesting we move it to a full-day event.”
