VCU Medical Center leadership announcement
July 23, 2024Michael “Mike” Roussos will be stepping down as president of VCU Medical Center next month. He has accepted an opportunity with Memorial Hermann Health System, in Houston, Texas, to serve as their senior vice president, president of Academic Hospitals and CEO of Memorial Hermann - Texas Medical Center Campus.
Roussos first arrived at VCU Medical Center in late 2021, as VCU Health and most of the country was still navigating the pandemic. His last day with VCU Health is August 14.
“Mike’s leadership has been instrumental in our health system’s success. Under his leadership, the medical center has seen record growth, including advocating the need for increased service expansion with a new inpatient tower; efficiencies and standards of care improved across all our hospitals; strong team member wellness and engagement; and the establishment of pharmacy strategy and leadership,” Marlon Levy, M.D., interim CEO of VCU Health and interim vice president of VCU Health Sciences. “As he returns home to Texas, Mike unquestionably leaves our health system in a stronger place as a direct result of his stewardship and collaborative leadership style.”
During Roussos’ time with the health system, he has also collaborated with clinical provider leadership to create stronger alignment between the School of Medicine, MCV Physicians, and the medical center through a shared vision and goals.
