VCU Health has appointed Jalana McCasland as the vice president of ambulatory services for the health system. She will begin in her new role on April 14.
McCasland brings 32 years of health care experience to our team, with most of her work being with academic medical centers. For the past nine years, she has served as vice president of physician practice management at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk.
Prior to CHKD, McCasland spent nearly a decade with VCU Health as vice president for ambulatory operations and executive director for regional outreach. McCasland is eager to return to VCU Health and to continue taking on the opportunities presented by an academic medical center.
As the vice president of ambulatory services, McCasland will be responsible for all aspects of operational performance in ambulatory, including access, quality, safety, and patient and family experience. This position is also involved with strategic planning, operations, financial management, regulatory compliance and system integration while fostering a culture that promotes diversity, equity and inclusion.
Josh Hammond, senior director of Ambulatory Operations of the Stony Point ambulatory region, has been serving as interim vice president of ambulatory services for the past six months. Hammond will now serve as associate vice president of ambulatory operations for VCU Health, reporting to McCasland. In his new position, Hammond will lead the overall operation of all VCU Health and MCV Physician clinic-based services.
