“Living Organ Donation: How it works and why it’s saving more lives than ever”

Living organ donation has many benefits, including better organ function, better long-term outcomes and a shorter wait time for the transplant recipient. But, what’s the process like for a donor? Could you be eligible to donate? Members of the VCU Health Hume-Lee Transplant Center will have a panel discussion to highlight living donation from both the donor and recipient perspectives.

“Colon Cancer: Know Your Risk, Change Your History!”

Join Jaime Bohl, M.D., and Emily Rivet, M.D., colorectal surgeons at VCU Massey Cancer Center, as they discuss the risk factors for colorectal cancer and the different screening methods. They will also discuss surgery’s role in managing this treatable form of cancer, and share insights on the enhanced recovery protocol being initiated at VCU Health before, during and after surgery.

“The Biological Clock — Is it for real?”

Many women are confronted with concerns about their biological clock as it relates to fertility. Join Nancy Durso, M.D., a reproductive medicine specialist at VCU Health, in a discussion about a woman’s biological clock and ways to determine reproductive health. The talk will include information about advances with in vitro fertilization, pre-implantation genetic screening, donor eggs and cryopreservation of eggs.
