Meet the newest provider at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital
Nurse practitioner from La Crosse joins the women’s health team
January 16, 2024Rebecca Cliborne, FNP-C, first became interested in health care when she took an emergency medical technician course in high school. After becoming a nurse, she was drawn to women’s health when she had two kids of her own. She’s now the latest addition to VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital’s women’s health team in South Hill.
Cliborne sees patients in the clinic and is responsible for annual gynecology exams. She works closely with Kwadwo Baryeh, M.D., and Darrell Brown, M.D., who deliver babies in The Garland Birthing Center.
Having spent her share of time in emergency, acute care and hospice settings, Cliborne is passionate about promoting preventive care.
“Too many people in this area wait until they’re pregnant before coming to see a doctor,” she said. “My goal for this community is to get more people in for their annual checkups. The more we know about you and the better educated you are about your existing conditions usually results in healthier outcomes.”
Cliborne grew up in South Hill and began her studies at Southside Virginia Community College, later earning her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Virginia. More recently, she received her master’s in nurse practitioner from Virginia Commonwealth University.
When she’s not in the office, Cliborne enjoys spending time with her family at the lake. They live in La Crosse with two golden retrievers. She also hunts, rides horses and is a do-it-yourself crafter.
