Fourth annual Giving Day will bring the VCU and VCU Health communities together
This year’s VCU Giving Day offers opportunities to support patient care, student scholarships, innovative research, and more.

On Tuesday, April 22, the Virginia Commonwealth University family from across the globe will come together to celebrate our fourth annual Giving Day, providing vital support to students, patients, and the broader community.
Donors can choose from more than 90 funds that support student resources and scholarships, comprehensive patient care, life-changing research, cutting-edge innovations, hands-on learning opportunities and more. Special matches and challenges help supporters maximize their impact.
“Giving Day honors the hard work, motivation and energy that drives VCU forward,” VCU President Michael Rao said. “We respectfully invite alumni, faculty, staff, students, family and friends to join us in giving to support our mission and our students, patients and communities.”
Giving Day takes place during VCU’s Philanthropy Week, when students celebrate VCU donors who support the programs and initiatives that enrich their college experience. Donors can specifically support initiatives on the university-based hospital campus by:
- Giving to any of the six health science schools training the next generation of medical professionals.
- Donating to the VCU Health Fund, to support improving the health of people in Virginia and beyond through innovative research, education, and exceptional patient care.
- Supporting centers that are making a difference in our community, including VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center, VCU Health Pauley Heart Center, or VCU Parkinson's and Movement Disorders Center, to name a few.
“Our donors catalyze our thriving mission by providing resources for students of all backgrounds, making possible comprehensive patient care, and supporting cutting-edge research,” Rao said. “Donors make it possible for more students to graduate on time, to become successful professionals in all of their fields and to become leaders in their communities. Donors also enable VCU to support and hire the nation’s top faculty members whose research changes our lives. Their resources have helped make our learning, research and clinical spaces among the best anywhere. We are grateful for everyone’s generosity on Giving Day and every day.
