Foundation Pledges Support for Pediatric Surgery Quality Improvement Program
August 30, 2017Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU seeks Level I verification from American College of Surgeons
In 2013, The American College of Surgeons (ACS) in conjunction with the Task Force for Children’s Surgical Care developed the first and only set of multidisciplinary standards for children’s surgical care. The purpose of the verification program is to improve the quality of children’s surgical care by creating a system that allows for a prospective match of every child’s individual surgical needs with a care environment that has optimal pediatric resources.
In July, Children’s Hospital Foundation pledged $837,949 over three years to help Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) implement the pediatric-specific ACS requirements and receive Level I verification, ensuring optimal use of the hospital’s pediatric resources to deliver the highest quality care driven by continuous quality and performance improvement programs.
CHoR previously received ACS verification as the first and only Level I pediatric trauma center in Virginia.
