January 02, 2019Some people rang in the New Year with fireworks, champagne, and a kiss while others were preparing to welcome 2019 with a sweet bundle of joy.
Lennox Rion Reep, was the first baby born at the Garland Birthing Center at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill in 2019.
Proud parents Janie Reamey (who was also born at Community Memorial Hospital) and James Reep welcomed their healthy baby girl at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday morning, Jan. 1st.
Delivered by Dr. Eric Reinertson, Lennox Rion weighed 7.9 pounds and was 20 inches in length. She has an older brother, Brantley who is 7 years old.
Janie gave birth in one of the new spacious LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) rooms in the new Garland Birthing Center where she was able to labor, deliver, recover and stay until she went home. Janie stated that, “Staying in one room for everything was really great. I didn’t have that when I delivered my first child.” She added, “And the staff here have been really wonderful from beginning to end. It has been a really good experience.”
VCU Health CMH staff presented the family with a New Year gift basket in honor of their special delivery.
