Facebook Live on Mindfulness
May 04, 2018Spring can be a stressful time with taxes, exams and family activities pulling people in many directions. Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU and the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation are teaming up to teach positive coping strategies through mindfulness. They will be live on Facebook on Wednesday, May 9 at noon.
“Mindfulness may seem like a new fad, but it’s actually based on ancient concepts,” said Clair Norman, director of mindfulness education with the Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation. “Mindfulness can be beneficial for all of us, wherever we fall on the mental health spectrum.”
In addition to describing the theory and process behind mindfulness, Norman and CKG Executive Director Grace Gallagher will explain how it can be particularly helpful for children and families. They will also demonstrate mindful practices, including breathing, eating, movement and visualization, during the live broadcast.
This event is in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and the recent opening of the new Virginia Treatment Center for Children.
