February 26, 2018Fundraising event raises over $17,000 for pediatric heart care at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU
The second annual “Mend, Heal and Carry On” fundraising event, held on February 8 at the Tuckahoe Woman’s Club, raised $17,523 through ticket sales, silent auction purchases, and generous donations. The funds will support the Children’s Hospital Foundation Heart Center at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR).
Established in 2014 by Children’s Hospital Foundation with a pledge of $28 million over 10 years, the Heart Center is the only one of its kind in Richmond. Working with a full spectrum of specialists in cardiology, anesthesia, surgery, perfusion, pediatrics, nursing, pharmacy, respiratory therapy and others, the Heart Center offers services ranging from fetal cardiology and interventional cardiac catheterization to surgery and transplant.
“Mend, Heal and Carry On” was presented by the Board of Directors of Children’s Hospital Foundation with Honorary Co-Chairs Diane Winchester and Dr. Thomas Yeh, Jr., Director of the Heart Center and Chief of Cardiac Surgery at CHoR.
Nearly 150 guests attended the evening event and enjoyed food, drinks, a brief program by Mrs. Winchester and Dr. Yeh, and the opportunity to bid on more than 20 different silent auction packages. Silent auction items were donated by a wide variety of local businesses and individuals.
