Brook Road Campus Broadcasts 36 Hours for Kids
February 28, 2018The auditorium at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s Brook Road Campus transformed into an on-air radio studio on Dec. 6 and 7 for the sixth annual 36 Hours for Kids Radiothon. Four local Entercom Communications radio stations, MIX 98.1, Q94, 1140 WRVA and BIG 98.5, broadcast live from CHoR and shared interviews with 16 patients, families and hospital staff.
The two-day event also included special Power Hours where local companies matched donations during a designated 60-minute period. Valerie and Hans Paul, owners of Impawsible Pups, represented one of the companies that sponsored the special hours.
“We are extremely fortunate to have such a remarkable facility for our children so close to home, and we want to continue to see your services and progress grow,“ said Valerie. “That is why we donate.”
This year’s event raised $150,178, which brought the radiothon’s six-year total to $704,573. Thanks to title sponsor, Richmond Area Honda Dealers; phone bank sponsor, Mitel Communications; broadcast center sponsor, Green Top; and matching sponsors, Impawsible Pups and Virginia Physician’s For Women.
