VCU Health is committed to providing exceptional and compassionate care for all patients and their families. One way we do that is by offering a distinctive option: Gumenick Suites, where we deliver our unparalleled medical expertise to patients in a private, elegant setting.

For an additional fee, patients needing overnight stays can do so at Gumenick Suites, and enjoy well-appointed private rooms, five-star amenities and service, and spacious adjoining suites for guests – each furnished with the level of clinical support and state-of-the-art technology and treatment that makes VCU Health a national leader in healthcare.

Recovery

A visit to the hospital can be daunting. Whether it’s a planned procedure or an unexpected event, your stay will require coordination that can overwhelm even the most well-planned patient or family. As a Gumenick Suites guest, you will enjoy advantages that aid in your peace of mind and comfort, such as higher nurse-to-patient ratios plus luxuries like gourmet meals on fine china.

Care

On arrival at Gumenick Suites, patients and families meet a nurse manager, charge (lead) nurse, and patient services liaison, who will serve as your personal advocate for coordinated and seamless care throughout the stay.

Each patient is fully supported by our staff of registered nurses, and Gumenick Suites offer a ratio of one nurse for every three. As a result, patients and families at Gumenick Suites can rest and recover with the assurance that they have an advocate ready to relay information, address questions, and provide support.

We also abide by the principles of Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS), an evidence-based protocol that starts before surgery, throughout the inpatient stay, and once home, designed to ensure every patient has the best possible outcome.

Admission

We welcome guests with a number of medical needs, from a variety of backgrounds, and we coordinate with other providers to provide exceptional multidisciplinary care. Admissions and transfers to Gumenick Suites are easily arranged by your physician and support staff.

Stays at Gumenick Suites are not covered by insurance and must be approved by your VCU Health admitting physician. We accept adult patients from most medical specialties — except critical care — based on the patient’s specific needs. Suites are limited, so advance reservations are requested.
