Biography
Sarah Paciulli is a certified family nurse practitioner. She started VCU Health’s cardiology navigator program in 2015. The program was born in an effort to enhance the care of cardiology patients and to reduce the hospital’s readmission rate of heart failure (HF) and myocardial infarction (MI) patients. She runs a transitional care clinic where she sees HF and MI patients in clinic soon after they are discharged from the hospital.
Sarah is a member of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, and is a Certified Heart Failure Nurse.
Prior to her nursing career, Sarah studied Spanish. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Psychology from the University of Miami. She worked as a Spanish medical interpreter for one year before deciding to pursue a degree in nursing. She is still able to use her Spanish doing outreach with the Spanish-speaking population in the greater Richmond area. She volunteers as an NP at Crossover Clinic (one of Richmond’s charitable clinics) where she has provided care to Richmond’s underinsured population since 2012.
Sarah has a special clinical interest in cardiac amyloidosis. She helps to run the cardiac amyloidosis clinic alongside the cardiac amyloidosis expert, Dr. Keyur Shah. Sarah has been appointed to Governor Northam’s Rare Disease Advisory Council. In this role, she will work with the council to advise state leaders on how to best serve Virginians with rare diseases.
Sarah is affiliate faculty with the VCU School of Nursing and frequently precepts nurse practitioner students.
